At Painted Hand Farm, we raise a multi-purpose herd of full blood and percentage Boer goats for meat, show and breeding stock. We breed for the two major holiday seasons--spring and winter. Reserving market kids early is recommended as our market goats go very fast and we sell on a first-come-first-serve basis. Market kids are available from the 18-75 pound live weight range and are priced accordingly. Goats are available whole as well as USDA cuts frozen. We also sell live intact males for the ethnic market.

Here is a group of young bucks that will perfect for all your Eid celebrations this year.

Nothing tastes better at Thanksgiving than a pasture-raised heritage turkey. These are the turkeys your grandparents ate--not some cardboard tasting frozen bird you got for free because you spent a lot of money at the grocery store. Grown outside in the sunshine, these birds are naturally juicy.  We raise the Standard Bronze turkey at Painted Hand Farm and generally take orders in the spring so we know how many turkeys to order from the hatchery. Fresh turkeys will be available for pick-up at the farm the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving. If you want a bird for Christmas, you will have to still pick it up at Thanksgiving and freeze it.

Our Pastured Heritage Turkeys are featured at LocalHarvest, SlowFoodUSA and in Bucks magazine

LocalHarvest is a public nationwide directory of small farms, farmers markets, and other local food sources. Painted Hand Farm is their Featured Turkey Grower. Additionally, we also provided an article on cooking heritage turkeys and a recipe

SlowFoodUSA is a branch of the Slow Food movement in Barolo, Italy. Their mission is to reach out to consumers and demonstrate to them that they have choices over fast food and supermarket homogenization. We are listed on their site under Heritage Turkey Growers

In the 2005 holiday issue of Bucks Magazine, Sandra was interviewed about heritage turkeys. Her recipes for Heritage Turkey with Rosemary Maple Butter was included.

In the summer of 2006, four bull calves arrived at Painted Hand Farm when our dairy farmer neighbors had an over-abundance. Unlike traditional veal production, we do not confine our calves and feed them milk, grass and a little bit of grain through which we supplement with kelp. They are grown to 250-300 pounds and then butchered. Our customers have responded with enthusiastically, so we will continue to offer veal for sale.
