Are you one of those people who gave up eating veal because you believed that all veal was raised like this?
Here at Painted Hand Farm, we are in a dairy-rich area that gives up regular access to bull calves from local dairies. The reality is that very few bull calves are used for breeding purposes and especially the dairy breeds, are sent for veal. We only procure calves from local dairies using natural, organic and humane practices.
Our calves are never crated, hand-fed and turned out on to a large pasture where they will be raised to approximately 300-350 pounds prior to being butchered. They are fed a milk-based non-medicated replacer and lots of green grass as well as receive no growth hormones or prophylactic antibiotics.
Our veal is available by the whole & half (priced by hanging weight) and as individual USDA-certified flash-frozen, cryo-packed cuts. Click HERE for a current price list. |
